Director of Elite Building Compliance Ltd, Don Harris has been involved in compliance management since its inception when the New Zealand Building Act was introduced in 1991.
He has remained at the forefront of the design and implementation of compliance management systems and facilities management programmes for many large organisations across New Zealand. He has provided his knowledge and services to a range of large clients including Hospitals, Power Stations, Educational and Correction Facilities throughout the North Island.
Prior to 1991 Don owned and operated his own fire protection company. This experience enhances his skills and knowledge he brings to the company and the services he provides our clients.
Before setting up his own company, Don worked with some of theNew Zealand’s leading Service Providers in Building Compliance and Fire Safety. He has also acted as an IQP consultant for the Ministry for Education; Housing NZ; Department of Corrections and Southern Cross Hospitals (North Island).
Don is an active member of the NZ Institute of Health Estate and Engineering Management.

Mike joined Elite Building Compliance in early 2009 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from various areas of the Building Industry both here in New Zealand and also in London.
He is responsible for the day to day running of the company that deals with all aspects of the compliance industry within commercial and industrial buildings. Mike personally manages all areas of the Building Warrants of Fitness, Building Consent applications,Fire and Emergency Evacuation schemes and training.’
Qualifying as a builder in the UK after a four year apprenticeship Mike spent the next decade in construction and building maintenance. Mike then ventured into Surveying and Contract Management including managing multiple service contracts.
Mike arrived in New Zealand in 2005 and took up a position with Waikato District Health Board managing their Building Compliance and Fire Safety requirements. After a period of time with the WDHB Mike moved to Hamilton City Council Building Unit where he worked closely with Independent Qualified Persons (IQP’s), building owners and council officials ensuring compliance with the Building Act and associated legislation.
Mike then returned to the UK to take up a Senior Project Management role in London where he managed multiple high rise refurbishment contracts for a National Integrated Service Provider Connaught Plc. This was a senior management position within one of the countries leading integrated maintenance service providers and was responsible for managing of delivery of the refurbishment of high rise and low rise external refurbishment projects. The value of these works was in the region of £4m per year.
